The video game press does what it can. Yesterday, the Washington Post shook everything up (figuratively, of course) when it claimed that PlayStation had secured the Final Fantasy VII trilogy as a console exclusive, drowning out the cries of Xbox players, and perhaps Nintendo players (you never know with a Nintendo fan, to be honest). There has been a correction, yes, but ‘Remake’ and ‘Rebirth’ are still marked as exclusives. Alright. And now what?

Final Fantasy VII, el final

Gene Park, the chattiest reporter at The Washington Post, clarified on Twitter that “It was a mistake on our part. The entire Final Fantasy 7 trilogy is NOT confirmed as a Sony exclusive. The article has been fixed to mention only Remake and Rebirth.” And yes, you’re thinking the same thing: Why on earth would they license only the third game of the ‘Final Fantasy VII’ remake to other consoles? Who knows.

Perhaps some executive suddenly got very nervous in Sony’s offices, but there’s no reason for that: by this point, it would be extremely rare if this third part were to go to another console. Just in case, and eager not to give that executive a heart attack, let’s leave it like this: two confirmed exclusives and one that, for now, isn’t. But, well, probably it is. Who are we kidding?
