If you have watched ‘Bridgerton’, you probably already know Jonathon Bailey, a 35-year-old actor who, until his moment of success, was best known for his theater roles (he started in the musical playing the immortal Gavroche in ‘Les Misérables’) and now combines being on stage with appearing in films like the upcoming ‘Wicked’ or the miniseries ‘Fellow travelers’. But, in addition, he is a voice that you have surely heard if you have ever played ‘Final Fantasy XIV’.
Fantasy, yes. Final, of course not
The actor, who plays the cat-man G’raha Tia in the MMORPG and all its expansions, hasn’t even considered leaving that job. Yes, it’s great to have international fame, but who would refuse to appear in a ‘Final Fantasy’ if given the opportunity? In Bafta magazine, he said he is perfectly aware of how important the character is to many people: “I was so determined not to leave the character that, when I was doing ‘Company’, I had to record this during the day for a week while doing eight shows at night“.
In the end, yes, his tongue got inflamed, but the fans thanked him for his hard work (and the bank account, mind you, as well). That’s why he apologizes, because it may sound, at times, a little bit bad. However, he refuses to leave a game in which he believes the script is almost Shakespearean. “I mean, it’s incredible. It’s a very open, adorable, and playful companion for the player”. Here’s to many more years of expansions of ‘Final Fantasy XIV’, Jonathon.
