The drama with Netflix’s live action has finally come to an end, or at least that’s what it seems. After the success of the live action remake of One Piece, the streaming platform has once again repeated the success with Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series premiere on the platform has surpassed the numbers of Eiichiro Oda’s series, and is becoming a global phenomenon like few series on Netflix do.
To celebrate, Netflix has not hesitated to do something it hadn’t done with any series in a long time: renew Avatar for two seasons. Instead of confirming only the second season, the VOD service has decided to take a step further and confirm the second and third seasons. This way, there will be less time between seasons and they will be able to plan them properly, something that rarely happens on Netflix.
Avatar achieves incredible numbers
The renewal has been announced through themed posters for the next two seasons. The second one is represented with the symbol of Earth, the realm in which, as we could anticipate in the previous season, the following chapters will take place. As for the third one, it has been represented with the symbol of fire, something that may have to do with how the comet Sozin foreshadows the moment of maximum power for the Fire Nation. It is expected, based on what we have seen, that the three seasons will cover the entire story of the original anime.
The series has managed to reach Top 1 in 76 countries, after achieving 41.1 million views in its first eleven days. It is undoubtedly Netflix’s biggest premiere this year, and it may become a benchmark to follow for the next series of this style that they are going to release. Finally, the platform can be congratulated.
