ChatGPT has just opened up like never before to users who don’t pay

Free users of ChatGPT can now access personalized GPTs, analyze graphics, ask questions about photos and other features added with GPT-4o in early May (we analyzed it here a few days ago).

Functions such as model responses and web, data analysis, chart creation, vision, file loading, memory, and custom GPTs were available for paying users (ChatGPT Plus, Teams, and Enterprise) but now they are open to anyone using ChatGPT.

Although free users of ChatGPT can discover and use custom GPTs (previously only available to paid subscribers), they will not be able to create their own.

How to create these custom versions and how to use them

Custom versions of ChatGPT range from a synonym dictionary to an Ikea shopping guide, the imagination is the limit. Creators of custom GPTs can also participate in a revenue sharing system that OpenAI started testing in March.

Access to data analysis and chart creation allows users to connect data from OneDrive and Google Drive to ChatGPT for faster analysis and customizable charts.

However, paying subscribers still have another advantage: fewer message limits. When free users reach the message or conversation limit using GPT-4o, they will automatically revert back to GPT-3.5.

One feature that users will not hear, regardless of their level, is the controversial voice of Sky. OpenAI withdrew the voice, notable for its similarity to Scarlett Johansson’s performance in Her, but its other voices are still available in ChatGPT.

OpenAI is increasingly opening up its product to all users, as they need interaction and clients to feed their artificial intelligence now that it is becoming increasingly difficult to effectively train the AI.
