Apple seems to be preparing a surprise. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the company plans to launch a 20-inch foldable MacBook in approximately three years. This would be Apple’s only foldable product with a clear development schedule, with production expected to start in 2027.

The biggest laptop ever in Apple’s catalog

This rumor, it must be said, not only comes from Kuo, but his adds to the predictions of other industry experts such as Ross Young, a display industry analyst, and the Korean website The Elec, who have also mentioned the possibility of this revolutionary MacBook.

Beyond the foldable nature of this product, what makes this rumor particularly interesting is the screen size. With a diagonal of 20 inches when fully expanded, this device would surpass the 16-inch MacBook Pro, the largest laptop currently sold by Apple.

Foldable screen technology has been on the radar of several technology manufacturers and we have already seen several releases, especially in the field of phones, but Apple could take it to a new level by integrating it into a MacBook. A MacBook that could have a form factor similar to the 13-inch MacBook and unfold one of the largest screens seen on a laptop.

Meanwhile, between the lines, what Kuo published also points out that, although the idea of a foldable iPhone or iPad may be attractive to many, these products are not on the near horizon. The company seems to be focusing on this technology from the perspective of laptops. Although it may take a few more years to see this project materialize, the mere idea is already generating significant interest.
